Keynote: Finding Hope – Trauma Informed Career Practice
Through lively narrative and practice examples this key note will address what a trauma informed approach really means for Career and Employment practitioners. How do the impacts of a broadening scope of trauma interfere with adjusting to change and developing meaningful goals? How might the past be reactivated in the present?
How are trauma informed principles applied in the work to foster growth and resilience? What could be challenges and dilemmas? Particular emphasis will be on creating compassionate practice as an essential foundation from which to build safe and respectful relationships to rebuild competency and capacity.
Donna Reid combines her current critical lens as a post-secondary educator with years of developing and delivering services for potentially at-risk youth and families in the Child and Youth Mental Health sector. Donna’s specific practice incorporated clinical assessment and treatment, group work and community-based support for persons experiencing emotional dysregulation and behavioural difficulties connected to developmental and complex trauma.
Donna is passionate about trauma informed practices that establish safety, rebuild connection and foster coping and resilience.
She is a firm believer in the power of human hearts to connect and build capacity for hope and change.
Members of CDPCBO (if you’ve gotten Certified, you’re a member) are welcome to join the Directors and Advisory committee at 5pm for the annual general meeting.
